Owyhee landscape jasper comes from the Owyhee Canyon in eastern Oregon. It is becoming increasingly rare because the area where it has been traditionally mined has been turned into a park and mechanized removal equipment is no longer permitted. (Can't argue with that!) The stone is remarkable for the beautiful mountain and desert landscapes that occur naturally in it.
The colours in these lovely slimline pens were inspired by a stunning piece of landscape jasper: light and dark brown, grey, peach, and orange blended with translucent and pearl. Just as the random action of nature produces magnificent landscapes in the stone, the colour choices, manipulation, baking, sanding, and polishing of the artist produce delightful surprises in the pens.
